Wow! That’s the only way to describe our outing on The River Ouse yesterday evening with the KLCRC. The boat, the crew and the weather were all perfect. I think we covered about 5 kilometres in our ‘taster session’ and we liked it… a lot! Catherine, Gill Eddy and myself were due to do this a couple of weeks ago but the weather intervened. As they say, “all things come to those who wait” and all things did indeed come to us yesterday. It was probably the nicest weather for this event so far this year. The river was high and still as a mill pond as we approached high tide (20.36), the sun was warm and the wind (although still from the east) was light.

We were aboard the ‘Ouse Rewet’ a St Ayles Skiff, with William, Mark and Jim. It’s a beautiful, steady boat – so forgiving in fact we were able to swap positions while on the river! A good thing because I was able to ‘skive’ for a while in the bow seat and take photos (lots of them!).

To complete a perfect evening we even had time for a pint on the balcony of the wonderful ‘Ooze Booze’ (AKA The Ferry Lane Social Club)

A thoroughly rewarding experience and one which we definitely hope to repeat many times.
