From the Adriatic Coast, a lush, green landscape of rolling hills slowly gives way to a more mountainous east where the high, rugged peaks of the Ucka Mountains drop steeply down into the glistening waters of the Bay of Kvarner. This is a land of secluded valleys and fertile plains dotted with hill-top towns and a spectacular jagged coastline of lagoons and islands, secret coves and long tranquil beaches.

On this fascinating walk, you cross the breadth of the Istrian Peninsula, from close to the Adriatic Sea in the west to the beautiful eastern seaboard. As you walk through the rolling fields, woods and neat vineyards of the Mirna Valley, you pass through small hill-top towns and villages where the fascinating history of this area comes alive. Starting near bustling Buje then moving on to medieval Motovun, before continuing over the mountains and down to the sea for a final flourish at Lovran, you experience the authentic and picturesque heart of the Istrian Peninsula.
