George Bernard Shaw was enchanted by this beautiful city, about which he said “those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik”, as well as, famously, describing it as “the pearl of the Adriatic”. It really is a stunning city with an amazing Old Town, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.

A short last minute break in Dubrovnik meant that we had to be creative with our hiking. Sometimes it was just around the beautiful city and other times we ventured out using the Komoot app on my phone. We also tried kayaking between the city and Lokrum (Lokrum is an island 600 metres from the city of Dubrovnik. It stretches from northwest to southeast and receives regular ferry service from the city).
